Established in pre-independent India by Ram Babu, the Dhoomimal was supported by stalwarts of the time, like B C Sanyal, Jaya Appaswamy, Jamini Roy, Sailoz Mukherjee and Nand Lal Bose, and the host of others, to be followed by generations after them.
