A consistent style may not be sufficient for a painter, but it could be that Sivanesan had hidden his true talent from the general public a trifle too long. It is only in some exhibitions that we have seen the painter’s other face, the one which is both serious and yet well contoured, that is, not unnecessarily mystifying. If his work of some years ago was deemed too popular, or illustrative, the works later prove he is as true to the exacting spirit of art as the next man. There are at least two branches of painting in which he can have few rivals; the portrayal of interiors and the delineation of still life. On each imaged face the painter imposes his own perception. However it is in his so-called interiors or still life that the painter is seen working with great verve. These charming works have that air of effortless case, which comes from supreme skill and confidence. M. Sivanesan, born in 1940, in Chennai. Studied at Chennai Government College of Arts and Crafts, Chennai, 1956. Moved to Delhi in 1963. He was awarded at International Inter Church, New York, 1962 &1977 Award-Royal Overseas Exhibition, London .
