R K Yadav

"My images are concrete, solid to the touch and strong in their symbolic connotations."

From pre-historic times till date, it has been the human endeavour to express his ideas in whatever way he deemed it possible, employing different media and various techniques. And he has always used his creativity to create a lasting impression of whatever he has conceived or perceived. I too, in order to realise my own ideas, have used the twin media of oil and metal in my creations. I have tried to bring the cosmos, the earth and man's comprehension of the two together in a visual whole, aesthetically conceived and rendered to the best of my ability.

My images are concrete, solid to the touch and strong in their symbolic connotations. They try to bring the viewer close to the mysteries of both nature and life and make him aware of his origins and destiny. I have made good use of the mythology in order to arrive at a view of my very own. And I certainly have efforted to share this view with my audience.

Artist Biodata

R K Yadav was born in Agra and received his degree in fine arts from Delhi College of Art in 1965. His aesthetically stirring compositions incorporate spiritual elements from the extensive body of Indian traditional art, astrology, and astronomy.

Beginning with astrology-based paintings, Yadav gradually transitioned to the Indian form of spiritualism. His calming and equable expression of the devotional parts of spirituality is attained by the exploration of the human self on the inside while engaging in ritualistic practises on the outside. With the representation of rural life and people frequently engaged in devotional gestures or offerings, his paintings display the influence of folk art. In addition to receiving the Senior Fellowship from the Department of Culture, Government of India in 1991, the Visiting Fellowship from the British Council London in 1988, and the India Academy of Fine Arts Amritsar in 2005, the artist's works have been displayed in India and beyond. In 1969, he received the National Award for stamp design. In 1996, the United Nations celebrated its 50th anniversary, and he received a Gold Medal and Certificate of Patronage.
