PAINTER

Shabir Hussain

"Each brush stroke on Shabir Hussain’s canvas spans eons, tracing in its colourful wake, figures suspended in a matrix of time. And colour is the soul, the primal nucleus of his paintings."

The forms and metaphors that evolve from this play of the spectrum are incidental to it, not intrinsic to its existence. The shapes evolve on sight, arising wraith-like forms within hues and shades, an existential paradox that disturbs and soothes in chorus, as they portray the inner turmoil of the mind that guides the hand holding the brush.

Artist Biodata

Being born and raised in the household of renowned artist G R Santosh, Shabir Hussain was introduced to the realm of creativity, poetry, and painting from a young age. It's incredibly difficult to compare yourself to your famous artist father, yet he put a lot of effort into developing his unique painting technique. Most of the love and passion he has for Kashmir, where he is from, can be seen in his art.

Through the use of lyrical, subtle lines, he creates vibrant paintings with vivid hues. Santosh, a graduate of the Delhi College of Art, has achieved the usual recognition through awards, exhibitions, and placement of his paintings in important public and private collections. Like his art, his shows are thoughtful and quiet in their power.
